Ever wanted to live happily ever after? Visit Orlando and do just that. Though not everyone dreams of fairy tales, it’s hard not to after spending time in Orlando - the world’s greatest amusement park. From casting spells at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and witnessing the magic of Disney World Florida to experiencing the deliciously warm weather and wetland habitats, Orlando is rich with opportunities.

Attracting close to 60 million holidaymakers a year, Orlando, the well-trodden tourist ground, is more than a whopping 80 times larger than the size of Monaco. With so many visitors interested in spending time in Orlando every year, it’s really important to understand exactly when the best time to visit is before booking your next trip - depending on your preferences, of course.

If you’re hoping to skip the crowds and stifling summer weather, then spring is the perfect time to visit Orlando. Since so many of the Orlando attractions and amusement parks operate for the entire year, you’ll be able to tick all the fun things off your Orlando bucket list, whilst enjoying them during a quieter time of the year.

High Season: March and April, June to August and mid-December through to January

  • The high season in Orlando tends to fall when the school holidays break out - including March and April for the American spring break, through to the summer months and the Christmas holidays
  • During the high season, Orlando draws in busy crowds, along with many families who are treating their children to a fun-filled trip during the school breaks

Shoulder Season: February, mid-September to October

  • This is a good time for those who want to skim over the busy periods, as February is notoriously quieter after the Christmas holiday crowds have departed
  • Mid-September through to October also experiences a lull and is known to be less manic, once the summer holidays have ended

Low Season: May, November through to mid-December

  • If you’re looking for warm, manageable weather that isn’t too hot for young children and the elderly, then the low season is a good time to visit Orlando. It shoulders the rainy season, as well as the heavily congested tourist holiday months
  • The months of May and November through to mid-December are usually cheaper for airfare and hotel prices, too

The best time to visit Orlando for theme park lovers

Keen to escape reality? If you’re looking for a forecast of a 100% chance of roller coasters, then Orlando is a must. In order to avoid the jam-packed periods of the year, we wouldn't recommend visiting during the school holidays (summer months, Christmas and New Year). If you decide to brave the high tourist season, be sure to expect long queues and crowded parks - as well as hefty accommodation and flight fees.

Though the special festive events, such as the Halloween and Christmas Disney parades, make it worth visiting during the busier times of the year, it’s still worth considering opting for mid-January and mid-May - as you’re likely to get to see more of the parks and ride more roller coasters when Orlando is a little quieter…

The best time to visit Orlando on a budget

Hoping to see the sights of Orlando without breaking the bank? If you’re battling with a tight budget then we’d recommend visiting from mid January to mid-February, once the tourists have left Florida. Accommodation and air prices are usually lower once the crowds have ceased.

Mid-September through to early December also sees hotels and airlines lowering their fees - apart from the obvious American holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Halloween. If you avoid these key festive periods then you’ll stand more chance of booking a reasonably-priced holiday.

The best time to visit Orlando for pleasant weather

Wondering when to catch the best weather? We’ve got you. For the most palatable weather, we’d recommend visiting this magical destination between January and April - the chance of rain is pretty slim during these early months and the temperature stays pleasantly warm for the majority.

January, though one of the coldest months of the year, still reaches an average temperature of 15°C, which slowly creeps up to a sunny 22°C in February. Once March comes around, the weather is practically idyllic, with daytime highs of 25°C - which only warms up to a toasty 28°C in April, so pack the sunnies, cap and suncream

If you’re ready to make your own ‘Once Upon a Time in Orlando’ fairytale a reality, then get researching and uncover when is the best time for you to book your trip. After all, some say that when you wish upon a star, you end up in Orlando… it could be time to test that theory.
